Reading can do more than just give us something to do... right?
Yes, pulling a book of the bookshelf and paying attention to it is something my parents often tell me to do when I'm bored, (even though I already read plenty) but honestly, there's more to it.
Reading is something that provides tons of benefits, not just escaping into our own little world (although that is a plus) and one that tends to help me a lot is conversation quality. Sometimes, you'll stumble across people who you then learn has read the same books you have and BOOM, instant friends and conversation. I’m glad my friends have read at least some of the books I’ve read, or what would we talk about?
Books also improve your memory! That’s right! I know a couple who need to read more often…( jk). Proof is that you know all your favorite book characters and backstories, right?
Reading doesn’t just take up your time. It fills you with knowledge. Books have plenty of words(duh), which can expand your vocabulary if you don't know some of the words already, and ace those spelling tests! If you read often, your writing skills will improve as you continue since you put your nose into others writing, absorbing the information it's giving you, but also sensing the writing style. Of course, everyone does have their own writing style, but yours will be a great combination of books you've read.
That's all I'm putting in this post, but check out more on my wordpress blog (in bio)! Thanks!
Yayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
